Website Wednesday: Jody’s Fishing

A great blog to visit for fishing information, especially for information relating to bass fishing, is Jody’s Fishing.

Jody’s Fishing is written by Jody White, a student at Virginia Tech and a member of the Virginia Tech Bass Team. You know he’s an avid fisherman when you read:

From Vermont I headed south for school to get more time on the water and fish in some different places.

Recently Jody has been writing a how-to on drop-shotting. How To Drop-Shot Part 1 takes a look at the equipment required and How To Drop-Shot Part 2 discusses the situations in which to use this technique and the mechanics behind it. I have learned a lot about drop-shotting from these posts and they have helped me plan my approach to this technique.

Another post I really appreciated was his breakdown of tungsten weight prices. A very useful tool for anyone looking to save a little money.

It’s also really neat to read about his practice before tournaments and tournament recaps. It gives the reader an inside look at something many of us wish we could be part of.

Jody’s Fishing is a great resource for anyone interested in fishing. His passion is contagious and you will find yourself eager to hit the water after reading his posts.

Jody is also very active on Twitter and you will do yourself a favor if you follow him.

Cheers!

KVD Gets Bassmaster Classic #4

When all was said and done it was Kevin VanDam, the king of bass fishing, whom once again reigned supreme at the Bassmaster Classic winning his 4th such title.

I spent yesterday reading all the updates I could find while the anglers were out on the water. There was an outstanding live blog on the Bassmaster website that kept readers in the know with the day’s happenings. Twitter and Facebook were also valuable sources of information. As the anglers were headed back to the dock there were all sorts of reports of bags approaching, and possibly surpassing, 30lbs.  It was pretty exciting stuff and I could not wait for the weigh-in. Bassmaster Classic Finishes Today! Weigh-in Soon…

I have been glued to the Bassmaster Classic for the past few days. Watching some of the best bass anglers around shooting for large bags of fish is thrilling. The fog delays for Day 1 and Day 2 caused smaller limits to be weighed in but today the limits are out of sight. Aaron Martens reportedly has a bag of 30lbs and Derek Remitz isn’t far behind with over 27lbs.

Of course, everyone’s waiting to see if Kevin VanDam will pull off his 4th Bassmaster Classic win, and being in the lead after the first two days was a good way to start. Rumour has it he currently has 22lbs for the day keeping him just ahead of Aaron Martens if everything stays the same. But there’s still time to catch another big one…

Watch what is sure to be an exciting weigh-in live on www.bassmasterclassic.com starting at 5:30pm EST. The weigh-in is emceed by Canada’s own Dave Mercer. Dave has done a spectacular job at his first Bassmaster Classic and is sure to add to the excitement of today’s finale.

Cheers!
