Website Wednesday – Bucket List Publications

The world of blogging is a wonderful thing. You write a post, publish it, put it out in the public domain, and hope that someone, anyone will read it. Then one day you start getting comments, likes and follows. People are reading your blog! Quite often, the people visiting your blog are fellow bloggers, and as they leave their mark on your site, you start to return the favor and visit their site.

That’s how I came across Bucket List Publications – one of the coolest blogs I have had a chance to read.

www.bucketlistpublications.com

Bucket List Publications began as the blog, Indulge: Travel, Adventure, & New Experience, written by Lesley Carter. With her husband, Darren, Lesley grew that original blog into Bucket List Publications.

What’s so cool about this site? The fascinating posts about incredible adventures and spectacular places to visit. Not only do Lesley and Darren get to share their adventures, but all sorts of writers are featured on this site, bringing unique experiences and entrancing tales to a forum where all can enjoy.

I honestly can’t pick just a few posts to direct you to, just visit the site and start clicking.

The great stuff doesn’t end there, Bucket List Publications actually wants to help others cross items off their bucket list:

People want to live their dreams and up until now they were doing that vicariously through us, but we want to offer them the opportunity to live their own life to the fullest. After we reach $5000 in donations, we will start accepting submissions for Bucket List Candidates. One lucky winner, each month, will be selected to make one bucket list dream a reality. We’ll do all the planning and the writing, leaving the adventure and accomplishments to them.

That sounds pretty awesome to me! Read this post about one lucky person getting the chance to achieve a bucket list dream of his.
After reading through this site, you will find yourself reflecting on your own bucket list. My own list involves a lot of fishing experiences. After reading about some of these other adventures, I may have to add to my list.
Check out Bucket List Publications today, and let your imagination go…

Website Wednesday – The Unlucky Hunter

www.unluckyhunter.com

This week’s featured blog is The Unlucky Hunter.

I only recently discovered this blog but I have spent a fair bit of time browsing through it, reading all sorts of interesting articles. You could read this blog for hours and never get bored.

The Unlucky Hunter is written by Tim Borkert and he displays not only a passion for hunting and the outdoors, but a passion for his family. Posts such as Spending Time Outdoors With A Toddler and Lila’s First Fish show how he’s managed to combine his passions. Read Deer Hunting VS Potty Training A Toddler to see someone who knows his priorities.

There are ample product reviews, some recipes (Chili Cheese Fries sounds fattening and delicious), and of course, lots of articles to help you with your hunting.  Check out Staying Waterproof While Hunting and The Most Dangerous Part Of Your Hunt.

Even if you are not a hunter this is a blog you should read. It’s well-written and insightful. Read one post and I guarantee you will want to read another!

Website Wednesday: Angler Gang

www.anglergang.com

This week’s featured website is Angler Gang. Angler Gang is “for anglers everywhere, join up share your photos and stories.”

This great site features a blog and a spectacular photo gallery where all are encouraged to share their fishing adventures and trophies.

When you visit Angler Gang check out the story of searching for the big pike in Island Lake (trust me, I’m still searching for that big one too!) and look at the photo gallery with all the great catches.

Take a moment to check out this very well-designed website and sign up for yourself!

Website Wednesday: Brookfield Angler

This week’s Website Wednesday featured website is BrookfieldAngler.com.

My favorite picture in the 'fish porn' stash on BrookfieldAngler.com. It's always the smallest fish that provide the biggest smiles!

Brookfield Angler was started by Nick Doumel as a way to log his own fishing adventures and share them with other anglers. Since then the site has grown to include another angler, Tom Czapiewski, and there are plans to add more writers in the future, making Brookfield Angler the place to go for a broad range of fishing stories, information and techniques.

The site underwent a facelift last month and the result is a nice  clear format that allows you focus on the post you are reading and easily find other great posts to read.

Whether it’s a quick trip for a photo op or an amazing opportunity to fish for musky (I was so jealous after reading this post, wish I had been out there!), you can count on a great fishing story from Brookfield Angler. Check out the site today!

Website Wednesday: Bass Pundit

For a great a read about all things bass, and other fishing news, check out the Bass Pundit blog.

The Bass Pundit is Dave Maas, an avid angler from from Minnesota, whose fondest early memories “are of waking up before day break to go fishing for Largemouth Bass with my Dad on Sylvia/Twin Lake in Wright County MN.”

There is no blog out there that is updated as frequently as the Bass Pundit blog and I love knowing there will always be new material to read. Whether it’s a gear review, such as the latest one on Havoc baits, or a post featuring other bloggers, or the latest fishing report from the GOMH (Grumpy Old Man Hole), there is always a good read.

A great feature on the Bass Pundit blog is the list of links he has put together. You can find links to all sorts of other great websites. I’m lucky enough to have my blog listed on there and have spent plenty of time looking through the other links to find more great fishing-related writing.

Take a moment today to check out Bass Pundit!

Website Wednesday – OwlJones.com

This week’s featured website is OwlJones.com.

I think most of my readers are very familiar with Owl Jones, but for those of you who are not, you really need to click on the link above and visit the site that is looking for total domination of the fly fishing world!

I first discovered Owl Jones thanks the Outdoor Blogger Network. I clicked on a link and ended up reading a blog post that made me laugh enough for Darrell to think something was wrong with me.

If you’re looking for unique, informative, and downright entertaining posts, OwlJones.com is the place to go.  The latest post, The Tenakara Scam was a great account of the Tenkara system. No idea what Tenkara is? I didn’t have a clue until I read this post.

Do you want to win something? I know I’m always on the lookout for free stuff. OwlJones.com is giving away some neat stuff right now and all you have to do is ‘like’ their Facebook page.  It doesn’t get much easier than that.

My favorite feature right now is Owl Jones Live, the weekly radio show. I don’t seem to be awake when the show comes on Thursdays at 11pm but I’ve caught the podcasts of the first two shows and really enjoyed them. The third installment is tomorrow night and Owl would love suggestions for topics. Don’t miss it!

Even if you’re not into fly fishing you find something interesting at OwlJones.com. Check it out!

Website Wednesday: Cutthroat Fishing

A really neat site that I like to visit both before and after my fishing trips is Cutthroat Fishing.

The goal behind Cutthroat Fishing is to ”make it easier for both beginners and experienced anglers to obtain information about the best bait, fly or lure for the fish they are going after in their particular lake or stream.”

I visit the site periodically to see if anyone has filed a catch report for an area I might be fishing. I always return a few days after my own fishing trips to file a report detailing where I fished, what I was catching, and what lure I used. I try to add a picture if I was able to get one.

Filing a fishing report is a simple matter of selecting the fish, picking your lure, and updating the statistics. If the lure you used isn’t in the database you just submit a link to the lure and a short time later it will be added to the site.

The site also provides great articles and tips and techniques that are guaranteed to help you improve your fishing.

The more anglers that contribute to site, the more helpful it will be. I encourage everyone to take some time and add at least one catch report to the site and make this a valuable resource for all anglers.
